The College of Engineering and Computer Science has recommended to The Burnett Honors College that Irene Tanner receive an Honors Undergraduate Scholarship (HUT) for her research accomplishments and completion of the honors thesis.
Irene’s honors thesis is about finding obesity and cancer link with deep learning algorithms, working under CRCV Professor, Ulas Bagci in collaboration with Mayo Clinic, Jacksonville. Irene was previously a participant of UCF’s prestigious NSF Research Experience for Undergraduates in Computer Vision program. She was one of only 10 unique students selected from applicants around the nation. Irene has published in the SPIE conference and presented the work in April 2019 where she received the Best Student Paper Award.
