CRCV is pleased to announce Dr. Chen Chen has joined our center as an Assistant Professor as of July 1, 2021. He has an h-index of 44 as of July 2021 according to his Google Scholar profile. He is ranked among the top 2% of scientists in the world by a recent Stanford University study (https://journals.plos.org/plosbiology/article?id=10.1371/journal.pbio.3000918). He received the Faculty Research Grant Award from UNC Charlotte in 2019. His research has been funded by the National Science Foundation and Intel for developing efficient and adaptive deep learning algorithms for edge computing.

Dr. Chen Chen received the Ph.D. degree from the Department of Electrical Engineering, University of Texas at Dallas, Richardson, TX, USA, in 2016 where he received the David Daniel Fellowship (Best Doctoral Dissertation Award for ECS). He held a Postdoctoral Research Associate position at the Center for Research in Computer Vision (CRCV), University of Central Florida from July 2016 to June 2018. He joined the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at University of North Carolina – Charlotte as an Assistant Professor in 2018. His research interests include signal and image processing, computer vision, and deep learning. He published over 80 papers in refereed journals and conferences in these areas. He is an Associate Editor of Journal of Real-Time Image Processing and the IEEE Journal on Miniaturization for Air and Space Systems.
