International Scholar, Thomas Castelli, visits CRCV
Thomas Castelli joined the Hubert Curien Laboratory at the University of Saint-Etienne, France, in 2013 after getting his Master's
degree in the "grandes ecoles" Mines-TELECOM. He has been selected for his PhD studies as a recipient of a grant from Direction
Generale de l'armement (DGA, French Government Defense procurement agency), and has since been working in partnership with the UAV
manufacturer Survey Copter, subsidiary of AIRBUS D&S, on moving object detection and tracking onboard UAVs. He is currently working
as a visiting scholar at the Center for Research in Computer Vision (CRCV), from April 2015 to February 2016, under the supervision of
Dr. Mubarak Shah and focuses on UAVs' safe navigation using computer vision. Thanks to Dr. Shah's experience and outstanding academic
success, he believes his time in CRCV is a great opportunity and is planning on graduating in October 2016.
